Note that like many other branches of Computer Science, conferences are usually more prestigious and competitive venues than the journals in HCI and related subfields. These conferences are double-blinded, peer-reviewed, archived, well-referenced, and extremely selective. The top two conferences in HCI are CHI and CSCW. In the ICTD field, the top conferences are ICTD and COMPASS.
